War makes you crazy. The VA recognized that in 1980, when it added PTSD to the list of veteran disabilities, and the list of walking wounded from that diagnosis would be far bigger if it weren’t for the stigma that PTSD has in somehow indicating weakness.
Nobody with PTSD, from war, from rape, or from anything else, wants to labeled disabled or disordered, however. Society hasn’t come far enough. It still favors broken limbs.
