Change has its own speed

The Sakonnet Peace Alliance in Little Compton, RI, of which Jan and I (she’s third from the left) are members, has held vigil on the town common every Sunday since 2003, during the prelude to the Iraq war.

Last week, as we’re crossing the road, an older gentleman on a bike stopped to announce, “Ten years ago I thought you were all knuckleheads. but you’ve proven me wrong. Thank you.”
