I usually mount my growing shelves between four 2-by-4 corner posts, as decribed in “Seed-starting” on this site, but I had this window seat, see, and I’m lazy by nature, and the seat was a bit more than 4 feet wide (plenty of room for the grow lights), so there you have it.
