Organ donors

In the mail recently was a letter from the New England Organ Bank, stating that Janet’s corneas that I’d donated in her behalf had given two people new sight for the first time in years. They sent  a certificate of appreciation, and when I saw her name on it, Janet E. Fossel, I cried loudly, and deeply, and long. The dogs gathered around as if they knew. Can you imagine that? Because she died, two people can see. Grieving is a tough road. But not having ever loved anyone that much must surely be worse.
